ACME with Craig Wedren
Program:
Music by Jefferson Friedman, Craig Wedren, Louis Andriesen, John Cage, and others.
Bio:
ACME (American Contemporary Music Ensemble) joins forces with Craig Wedren (who began his career as the frontman for the avant-rock band Shudder To Think) in brand new Love Songs – On in Love, with music by Jefferson Friedman and lyrics by Craig. The concert also includes Craig performing Cage’s Aria; ACME performing Andriessen’s Workers’ Union and the premiere of an electric version of Jefferson’s 78. Craig will perform solo material as well.
Love Songs – On in Love is for amplified and processed flute, clarinet, string quartet, piano, percussion, and vocalist. Jefferson Friedman and Craig Wedren met when Jefferson joined Shudder To Think for what turned out to be their last tour. Love Songs is a hybrid of two musical languages. Jefferson says, “Essentially, I’ve applied classical composition techniques to a rock format. These will be rock songs that do things that rock songs don’t do.”
